Kati-Killa is a hill considered by the Kitu-Kara culture as an ancestral sacred site. In the last of the twentieth century, on the top at 2650 m . was found archeological evidence built during the Integration Period 800 A .D. Two large circular platforms that represent a moon eclipse mark the exact Equator! 0°0´0´´ latitude; measurements taken recently with G.P.S. On equinoxes sun breaks over Cayambe snow capped mountain and illuminate this platforms. Knowledge of astronomy was very important in the Andean Cosmo vision which still continues nowadays. Kati-Killa is located in an exclusive view point. We recommend doing this Tour early in the morning. Please contact us one day early.
